Estonian industrial artist Evestus releases an “anti” social media video single "Happy Being Dead". This track is a completely standalone single and will not be on the new album, “Monster I’ve Become”, that’s currently getting mastered by Paul Logus and is planned for release next year.

Happy Being Dead (HBD) is something Evestus just had to get off his chest, the lyrics in the verses are completely improvised and were recorded in a single take :

"The idea for this song came to me when someone said – if you're not online – you might as well be dead. And I realized, sometimes, I'd RATHER be dead than whoring on social media. I’m from the 90’s, I was who I am even before social media. So I don’t really care what people think about me. I don’t need any validation, a pat in the back or a cheer from a stranger. ”

Irony being the fact that Evestus spent the last Christmas a week in a coma with bacterial meningitis after which he had to learn to walk, talk and didn't even recognise his own songs and had to re-learn a lot of things in the beginning of 2020. Releasing a song titled "Happy Being Dead" to celebrate not dying a year ago might seem like dark humour but is actually pointing out the fact that we should live more, care less and not drown ourselves in other people’s lives and petty things.

So here's an anti social media song for these moments where you just don't care.  You stop guilt-liking your odd relatives posts, turn off your phone and are happy being dead!

Happy Holidays!
