King of Goth Pop Chris Pohl (Blutengel) continues his passion project SHE HATES EMOTIONS. He just released his brand new long-player "Future Unknown" via Out Of Line Music, right in time for his album tour across Germany.

All humans have one thing in common - No one knows their future. But one thing is certain: The “Melancholic Maniac” strikes back once again!

Chris Pohl (BLUTENGEL) is back with his now third studio album from his latest music project SHE HATES EMOTIONS. After “Melancholic Maniac” and “Happy Pop Music”, this new record named “FUTURE UNKNOWN” treats us to 11 brand new 80s style Synth Pop hits - retro, yet modern, and absolutely unique! No one knows what the future will bring, but it’s guaranteed that “FUTURE UNKNOWN” will catch old and new fans alike and get everyone to sing and dance along.

Formed in 2019, SHE HATES EMOTIONS is Chris Pohl’s latest music project and as a child of the 80s, Chris pays homage to these times. With minimalist retro sounds, high-pitched vocals and a flamboyant atmosphere, SHE clearly distinguishable from his success project Blutengel.

Without forcing it, Chris brings back the spirit of the 80s to the here and now!

In the beginning of 2020, the debut album “Melancholic Maniac” was released alongside two music videos produced by Sven Friedrich from Solar Fake (“See The Light”) and Nils Freiwald from Erdling (“Edge Of The Night”). Although this release coincided with the Covid pandemic, it gained success nonetheless (#24 of the Media Control Charts).

Due to Covid, tour plans only became possible with the following album “Happy Pop Music” in 2022. January and February 2023 then began with a small club tour and ended with a successful show at M’era Luna Festival in front of thousands of fans and curious new viewers.

Now, She Hates Emotions is ready to take over the music world with new the new album "Future Unknown"!

Live, Chris is supported on the Keyboards by Jan Teutloff (x-rx).

Future Unknown is a spooky opener with no vocals and also announces the mysterious vibe that will be the red line all over this new album.

Strong For Me sounds like a classic 80’s synth pop track with a mellow side. I also hear some modern slices. The drums are for sure into retro. The lyrics are a bit in dubio: one side is thankful and the other side says he’s not strong enough and can’t give back what he gets.

Dirty Little Secrets has already been launched as a single and totally deserves the spotlights! The song sounds sweet (despite the lyrics), is catchy and has a good tempo. It’s a nice example on how to mix old synth tunes with the modern era.

All Good Things is a slow track and is according to me not the strongest one. Somehow I feel like it was pretty hard to get the start right in vocal part in the first minute of the track. Once the softer side of the song is gone it gets better, but I feel like I if I had to make the cut: I would have asked not to drop this one on the album.

Back To My Youth is what we all at some point desire. This song takes back on memory lane. The music is ok, not as catchy as expected whilst the vocals are ok (but I miss a bit of a punch).

Don’t You Think has also already been launched as a single and was also a good choice: it has a good tempo, a nice chorus, good beats and enough variation to keep it interesting.

Lowest Of The Low (Feat. Marc Massive) is the next single and really felt from the first time I heard it like: this should be a huge hit! I clearly hear the synergy between both artist. The beats are great, the tempo is good and the chorus is catchy. This is a good example on how to revive the 80’s synth pop feel! There is even a little wink towards The Sisters of Mercy!

Stargazer is a soft song and here again I hear some weakness in the vocal part. The SF-minded lyrics are in synergy with the sound.

For A Moment is a nice retro synth pop track with the right vocals and the perfect tempo. The song is almost catchy and has great electronic drum parts.

Wrong Decisions has a nice melancholic side, sounds really great and is one of the better tracks on this album.

Future rejected is the end song and just as the opening track: no vocals on it. Thes are 2 out of 3 songs I would have left on the desk and would have replaced by 3 other songs.

I feel like Chris enjoys this project and just does whatever he likes, not caring about the results or the feedback. He has a long career and in fact just does what David Bowie did all along his epic career, nothing wrong with that.
