She's Green is an American indie rock band originating from Minneapolis, Minnesota. After their concert in de Witloof Bar (Botanique) I felt the urge to review the album, after my 12 year old daughter loved the gig and actually bought the album. Nice thing is that their music revives the genre that topped in the 80’s and mix it with a layer from 2026. Building a bridge between 80’s lovers and music lovers in 2026.
Their gig started with the same song (Locket) as the album and I considered it as a nice intro into their sound: dreamy structures and an angelic voice, aided by great guitars and a good drummer.
Dear Ivy as a heavenly voice kind of song, with floating guitar sound but sharp lyrics. It's a bit like Poison Ivy: she looks gorgeous but don't get too close or she will poison you. Whilst Empty House is a nice acoustic track, with a bit of a folky sound. Paper Thin goes back to the more electric guitar minded sound. Zofia's voice makes you dream away. The sound of Slowdive is never far away in this song. Hear the shredding guitar sound in the beginning of Mettle: their heaviest song on this album and thus showing they also have a harder/heavier side.
Keeper swings a bit between hard and soft, guided by a great guitar sound and Zofia's voice that shows many sides of her vocal talents.
They close the album with their most cherished song on the album and also the longest one: Keep Your Eyes (7:09). The vocals will hypnotize you, whilst the guitars will or make you start dreaming or just wake you up out of your dream world. At their gig they presented it also as their last song at it fits well at that position. I still remember the fans shouting for more after that.
They have a bright future, I was just hoping there would be more songs on this one, but that's also because the album is simply amazing. They convinced us on stage, so up to the next album and next concert and who knows it might also be as warming up band for Slowdive!
