Suicide Commando - Goddestruktor (Out of Line)

English:CD-review

Mankind is doomed! Wars and destruction, religious fanatics, and the greed of a few, combined with hate and exclusion on social media. Triggered by all the scum of humanity, Johan Van Roy - frontman & mastermind of Suicide Commando, delivers what is perhaps his heaviest album to date and releases musically monsters like “Bang bang bang” or “Kill All Humanity”. Conciliatory tones only come from Charlotte Nuytkens, finalist of the Belgian edition of "The Voice", who can at least bring a glimpse of an ideal world in "Land Of Roses“ - a tiny glimmer of hope in an otherwise martial terror-EBM beast. You better take cover! Here comes the "Goddestructor". The Bonus-CD contains Remixes of internationally well-known Electro-acts like Assemblage 23, Cryo, and FGFC820 - just to name a few.

QUOTES Johan van Roy:

God, guns, and anarchy! An album about hate & revenge, how religion & greed is destroying our world. 2 years of covid made this album probably the hardest Suicide Commando album to date, anger & fear clenched together in 50 minutes, like a fist in your face! Not for the weak-hearted. Also interesting: "Land of Roses" is the first-ever suicide commando song with female vocals, female vocals by Charlotte Nuytkens, who made it into the live TV show finals of the Belgian "the Voice" in 2019.

To kick off the forthcoming album by Belgian hard-electro pioneers Suicide Commando, Johan van Roy and Co. present a little foretaste of what to expect: Bang bang bang. This 4-track maxi-CD was available from April 14th. on the ears, in the tradition of the great Suicide Commando dance floor massacres - strictly limited to 500 copies worldwide. „Each day over 500 people die from gun violence! Even though the song actually is about gun violence, it now also got an extra dimension with the current war in Ukraine. How power, greed and hate can cause destruction & war. Make music, not war!“ so Johan van Roy about the new single. In addition to "Bang bang bang" there is also the single "Trick or Treat" - which was released for Halloween 2021, on the maxi, as well as a remix of each of these tracks.

Time now for the real treat: the music! The new album starts with a big bang: KILL ALL HUMANITY !

EBM/Industrogression from the top shelf! The start of this song also feels fitted to start a live show with as it slowly builds up and gives Johan the time to let bis band open up the floor for him. The music feels more elaborated whilst Johan’s voice also sounds a bit better (but still loaded with rage and energy)! If you check the lyrics it feels appropriated: Humans are destroying their own world and don’t deserve to live (according to me). Time for a love song and that is not a joke: I'D DIE FOR YOU (v2.0)! Or in other words: love hurts! I dig the music and the way it’s all been crafted in the studio! GOD OF DESTRUCTION starts like with a complete new sound for a Suicide Commando song and slowly changes into an EBM track from the 80’s but recorded with the gear of 2022. Somehow it’s also a bit of a catchy song (thanks to the vocals and the lyrics). If you listen to it a lot it might even become your most favourite track! JESUS FREAK is in the end the better version of Jesus Wept (an older song) with a classic Suicide Commando touch, but with lyrics that remind me of the best Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio album ever (Let’s Play, Two Girls & A Goat). STERBEHILFE (EUTHANASIA 2021) needed apparently a newer version and sounds indeed better than the original. DESTROYER OF WORLDS has a good tempo, a cool sound and should eb integrated in a videogame! LAND OF ROSES gets vocals by Charlotte Nuytkens, who made it into the live TV show finals of the Belgian "the Voice" in 2019. This song shows that Suicide Commando can also produce softer songs! It’s a bit like the harder version of Hooverphonic, but with a newer sound. Charlotte has on top a great voice! BANG BANG BANG has already been launched as a single and totally deserves it! It’s a strong song with a clear message and a catchy passage in the chorus! I adore the C-Lekktor remix (has been in my playlist since I got it)! I can feel the live vibe with this one! SIN goes a bit back to the modern EBM sound! I didn’t hear Johan singing on this one but it’s cool enough like it is! Another single is TRICK OR TREAT and really fits Suicide Commando like a handmade glove! It was to be expected that soon or later we would get this Halloween song! The way the song is constructed it will be for sure a hit on stage (and maybe it is already)! It’s going to be a must play on stage song (next to his 20 other hits)! With some luck Johan might do once a very long best off set one day (like a The Cure kind of setlist with coming back five times to sing 3 songs and in the end getting kicked off the stage by the security)! There goes my ultimate fantasy! Last one is BUNKERB!TCH (CENSORED)! Here I got a bit of an Ice-T feeling (mind Copkiller from Bodycount). Yet it’s a good closing track with the perfect tempo and hard hitting music! Wow, what a blast!

Well: I just miss the C-Lekktor remix here! It’s so far simply the best Suicide Commando album ever! There is enough variation, the lyrics and the sound are very mature and crafted to perfection! Vocal wise I hear a bit of a change in the best possible way! The singles are so far the best choices and thus I really hope the album gets the perfect launch! I hope for some number one spots all over the world! Grab all the extra’s!
