It feels like this is a well-oiled machine! Just take a look at the artwork: great SF drawings! The music is from the same level! Antechaos sings in French, serves us a very melodic kind of heavy metal with some slices of rock, good lyrics and instruments on fire! The band got formed thanks to COVID-19.

Antechaos was started up in spring 2020: Nico (guitar) and Chris (Bass) got bored after their previous band SEYMINHOL called it a day. They wanted to work further on their common Hard Rock path and sing in French. They tried out a few people before recording their first album. In the end we have Max (guitar),  Dom (Drums) and Laurent (vocals) as part of the people who went into the recording studio. Chris has 2 sons Tarek and Wrath who also perform some raps on this album.

Alpha is the first track and starts slowly. But once the guitars are up and the drums start to hit you know it’s going to be a heavy metal track filled with energy! In the beginning it’s a bit getting used to the French vocals, but in the end we have Flemish, Estonian, Finnish … bands who sing in their own language and are playing all over Europe. I’m not gonna drop their names, but I’m sure you know who I’m talking off. I like the clean vocals. If you focus on the package it feels like listening to a remake of songs who figured in manga series that got translated into French, the songs included! Think about Saint Seya, Dragon Ball Z, Captain Flam, Albator … One name pops up: Bernard Minet! Exode has a catchy and sweet chorus whilst the drummer keeps on hitting. I feel it would have been great to ask somebody to create a manga built up around the music and the lyrics! The guitar solo is also succulent! Gangster starts with an acoustic part, but explodes pretty fast and has a catchy and cool rocking sound! The vocals and guitars blend in as if produced by the best one in the business, but I’m pretty sure it’s just their own talent! Once again the vocal parts really show off: what a blast and what a talented singer! Enfance 2.0 rocks in a good and very sweet way. Veuve Noir has a good tempo and appeals to my manga fantasy! I can see the clip in my mind! Le Bord Du Monde starts in a gently way until vocals, guitars and drums jump in! Next to that my fantasy also jumps in and conceives a videoclip with a very sad story. I adore the sound and the vocals! It’s a very catchy song! Lucifer is another great rocker that will be a hit on stage as it’s filled with energy and has a cool chorus! It’s one of my favourite tracks on this really cool album! Secret Médical has some rap parts in it. I have no clue who sings the rap, but it reminds me a bit of what Aerosmith did a while ago but in here it sounds even better. I also like the melancholic touch and the lyrics that comes close to certain Marvel stories in my private fantasy. L’Effet Pappillon (the Butterfly effect) is something that reminds me of some SF books I read when I was a kid in the 80’s and later some movies I watched. The song is one of the hardest on this album. Watch out of the rap parts that this time comes close to the other giants of this genre: Beastie Boys! Obselete has a more bluesy sound with again this mix of clean metal vocals and some raps whilst the guitars keep on roaring! Apocalypse starts with a piano but explodes pretty fast and goes into a herder direction. The end gets a softer touch. This one is also the longest track on this album. This was the regular end, but we also get another version of: Le Bord Du Monde (radio). This version is shorter and focusses on the energetic vibe.

Well: once I was used to the French lyrics I start to love it and my fantasy did the rest. But I hope they contact Alain Poncelet and check with him (or somebody who can do it) if he can do his magic with his pencils! This album calls up for more visuals and why not a spot on a soundtrack? Would be cool to see them one day on stage!
