I’m into the Metal Female Voices Fest modus and after a chat with Markus Eck I got a nice tip to listen to the female opera metal sound produced by Molllust. It’s my first time and I enjoy it!

Molllust is a german band and they start off with Voices of The Dead is a great mix between classic instruments, narrative elements and female fronted opera metal! The piano reminds me slightly of some David Bowie tracks on Low, here it brings darkness and a doom attitude. The cello and violin play their parts, just as the typical opera minded vocals. The guitars lift the tempo and changes it into a more metal minded track with powerful vocals (backings).

It feels like the kind of music Wagner would make if he would have been born 30 years ago! It has the right drive, special twists and sounds very special! Another great thing is that they sing in different languages. First one was in English, the second one is un German and is called Unschuld (a more piano/cello and violin minded track). The classic feel gives it an angelic touch. The vocal fight between Frank and Janika is worth listening too. In case you missed it, there is a Haggard touch too (with Frank Schumacher, who recently re-rejoined them)!

Paradis Perdu is sung in French, is filled with great vocals with Janika on the lead. Sound wise it comes close to what I know from Apocalyptica.Eventfall is more metal minded and comes close to the sound of Haggard with in addition their own special opera sound! The bombastic sounds gets it highlights and dramatic stops! Number in a Cage sounds as if it was written in 1700, mixed with heavy metal from 2015! I love the musical twists and dramatic feel! I really wander how it all sounds on stage? The little vocal walks are making it very interesting! Paradise on Earth sounds just like the title says it, music wise it’s a fight between the piano and the vocals with now and then a cello/guitars, drums and violins.

I must say it’s something very special and I’m glad I tasted it! It’s always great to taste something totally different, to taste something new!
