CauseNation - The Remix Collection (DressCode Black)

Causenation is a trio from Belgium creating dark electronic tunes: Vain Sacrosant and co are on fire! I have seen them on stage and really loved them. Now it's time for an excellent remix album with the help of Vomito Negro, Darkvolt, Enzo Kreft ...

Mark of Cain (Vomito Negro remix): this is what you get when you mix an old school EBM track by one of the most famous old school EBM acts from Belgium (next to Front 242)! It’s the best way to start this remix album with!

Hearts Beat Strong (Novakill remix) puts more power on to the electronic drums and synths with a slice of VNV Nation minded beats. It’s a nice one!

Demons of the Night (Darkvolt remix) is a remix done by the label owner and thus very useful if you want to know what’s the direction the label owner wants to take with this song. The sound gets an even bigger dancefloor minded touch (bigger then the original) and a very modern sound with great percussion!

Mark of Cain (First Aid 4 Souls remix) is for 50% CauseNation, the other half is Hungarian artist István Gazdag also enjoys experimenting with other artists and expanding his sonic spectrum through fruitful collaborations. This version gets more guitars and more stomping beats. The feel changes from EBM to Industrial with a slice of Gary Numan.

The Things You Promise (Nova State Machine remix) changes it into a more techno minded pumper! It’s not my cup of tea, but it really sounds good!

Hearts Beat Strong (Enzo Kreft remix) well these 2 know each other as they share the same stage every now and then and both are getting established in Belgium as excellent artists within the same genre. It’s an excellent version and I’m pretty sure Enzo Kreft might bring his version on stage too!

Mark of Cain(Cirque d'Ess remix) gets a more electrified version, but also a colder sound mixed with a deep bass sound.

Hearts Beat Strong (Darkvolt remix) in this song you’ll almost hear literally the heartbeat in the form of the bass tones. I like the new sound here as it has a captivating and warm sound.

Divided We Fall (First Aid 4 Souls remix) changes into a more minimal wave kind of a track. The extra electronical parts are great and a good extra.

The Things You Promise (VV303 remix) gets pumping beats that go very well with the track and takes the song to a higher level! This is clearly dancefloor minded material! Excellent remix!

Demons of the Night (First Aid 4 Souls remix) is the last track and gets us a warm synth and bass sound.

Well it’s a bit strange to hear this early in the career of a project a full remix album, but it got me hooked and I finished the review without hesitating as I normally am not really a fan of remixes, but here we got strike after strike! Almost nothing but excellent results! I hope the songs get picked up by DJ’s and I hope the fans will love it and who knows maybe Darkvolt and CauseNation might work more on mutual tracks (same goes for Enzo Kreft) as I heard they did a magnificent job! Congratulations to all!
