"When you entered the French foreign legion, you had to march or die... When you spilled your blood for France, you could become a French citizen... This tells the story about the brave fight of 65 “légionnaires” against 3000 Mexicans during the Battle Of Camaron in 1863. Only three men survived and were allowed to return home, carrying the body of their Captain Jean Danjou with them. The wooden hand of commander Jean Danjou is kept as a relic in the foreign legion."
