Last March, when releasing their highly praised new studio album Armén, POUPPEE FABRIKK announced that 2020 was bound to become a year of “grand cru” for Electronic Body Music. They recently confirmed it again by putting out their 6CD box EKM - Anthology 1989-2019.
In december 2020 they released the 2nd EP taken from the Armén album. I like the original version of Burn Forever as it has the right tempo, good vocals and the perfect drive. The beats make you want to dance and the vocals are understandable. The song doesn't irritate in the sense that it's hard to innovate within this genre. Rougher, dirtier, harder and more mutated into an angry and revolted solid EBM version is what they call themselves the new “boss level remix”. BLUSH RESPONSE turns this track into a more industrial minded track (not my cup of tea: I prefer the original). Last one is the promising US newcomer KREIGN who gives it an old school EBM twist.
Not bad at all. I start to doubt if I shouldn't review the complete album, but i'm still in doubt as I feel this is enough EBM for one day! But still: a good track!
