ALIEN VAMPIRES – Destrudo EP / World In Denial EP (Alfa Matrix)

The evil brothers of ALIEN VAMPIRES seized the opportunity of the COVID-19 pandemic confinement to spend more time recording and experimenting in their home-studio (Bricklane-London UK) than being on the road and playing live shows. Therefore Nysrok Infernalien and Nightstalker take us all by surprise today and deliver a new explosive set of two coupled and fully complementary 9-track EP’s respectively titled “Destrudo” and “World In Denial”.

I loved them in the past and was so lucky to see them actually on stage. Now after a long period I finally get some new material from them: 2 EP’s! I’ll start with Destrudo!

First track Destrudo mixes harsh electronics with metal guitar riffs and vocals that sound like very devilish, whilst we also hear some monks at some points and an electronic 80’s minded drum sound. Our duo loves to joke with Christianity, whores/sex and drugs and on this one it’s all in one go. It seems like they are the devil and describe the worst sides of humanity. I like the music as it is (it doesn’t happen much that I’m so positive, lately). For me this is a happy returning of great people! World In Denial is what we have seen with the Trump fans: there is no COVID-19 for example! Next to that I adore the beats, the harsh sound, the retro touch in the electronics added on top of the more modern sound. All put together you get a foot stomping dancefloor hitter! The clean vocals in between also sound great! 10 Bags 10 Lines is a more straight towards the dancefloor orientated track. It has the typical high tempo, the perfect beats, a deep bass … but also has a hellish voice and some erotic phases in it. Whilst the previous tracks sound like a band I can describe this one as a more table/desk minded track if you know what I mean: just a machine and a micro and just launching it like as if it was DJ Regi (but with a darker/erotic touch)! It’s a great raver! Next one is softer one with a more synth pop minded touch: London Paranormal. I even hear a bit of a retro touch in it. The dark and scare vocals sound a bit different (but still sound sharp). The second voice sounds deeper here. This song shows that they can deliver anything and handle any genre and still sound brilliant!

Next in line are 4 remixes! First one is Destrudo (unholy mix by God Destruction). I hear the 80’s electronic drum very well here. I like this version too. However it gets here a more Suicide Commando minded touch and lesser kicking against the holy house of God. It doesn’t happen much that I like remixes but this one is very good (usually I listen once to them and skip or delete them fast after listening)! World In Denial (In3briant mix) starts with real drums and becomes after 30 seconds a real clubber (with a bit of dubstep in it)! The end could have been kept a bit shorter, but for the rest no bad words about it. Destrudo (self-destruct mode mix by Cyberlich) gets more guitars and a more chaotic minded sound and that knock me a bit off. It’s just too much noise for me. World In Denial (Freaky Mind mix)is a good one as it’s a very poppy and dancefloor minded track with the right tempo and the right beats. I like the mix of clean vocals (giving it a melancholic touch) and the distorted vocals. It’s once again a great remix. But hey if the ground layer is great you can’t screw it up (however some even succeed). Last one on this EP is Destrudo (destructive impulse mix by Nano Infect): adding a more death metal sound to the harsh electro sound and creating a real heavy track with a great sound! There is even a time out with a bass! Love it!

Keeping things fresh! Giving us different kind of songs, working hard to keep us captivated and finding 3 great remixes out of 4! Can I say more? Can I be more positive?

Up now is the World in Denial EP:

As we get some of the same songs in this EP from the previous one, I’m not repeating myself. So this EP starts with World In Denial & Destrudo. First real new track is called Darkweb: a guitar versus beats track with distorted vocals. Halfway the song breaks up, renders a bit the scary darkness, but retakes the harsh sound and screaming. I would have loved to read the lyrics as I sadly only understand them partially.AV Forever E9sounds way softer then all the other tracks, has a more synth pop minded feel and goes a bit too slow for me. This one feels like a filler (however I also like the clean vocals in it).

After that we get 4 remixes!

First one is World In Denial (Chamaeleon mix): hard hitting with a more roaring sound. I like the tempo and the mix of clean vocals and harsh vocals. It’s a good remix! Destrudo (Viscera Drip mix) is not adding much new to it and I honestly already feel like the remixes are getting a bit into me. But then comes World In Denial (Distoxia mix) and that one makes me feel happy again: good tempo and good vibe. I like the more techno minded approach. Destrudo (Reaxion Guerilla mix) is not bad, but at this point I heard so many remixes of this one that It’s time to get something new. Last one is World In Denial (Adeonesis mix). The mix is not bad at all and feels like the final blow!

I must say that the remixes almost killed me (overkill), but the overall quality is still higher them what I hear elsewhere. I’m happy they are back on track and am looking forward to get a real and full CD and who knows: see them back on stage in 2021 or 2022!
