Right in time for Halloween and just over one year on from the release of their best of album Black Gold, today Editors release the Joyhauser remix of ‘Frankenstein’ via Play It Again Sam.
The original song, described by frontman Tom Smith as “a song of joy and escapism - a cartoon song for the freaks, the different and for the night”, Frankenstein receives a radical overhaul from one of the most exciting, incendiary acts in today’s techno scene. Since their emergence in 2017 Joyhauser have smashed dance floors across the world, picking up a huge following and gaining support from many of the scene’s most influential figureheads, including Amelie Lens, Pan-Pot and Adam Beyer among others.
Of the original Joyhauser commented "Frankenstein was one of the tracks that stood out the most to us. We loved the main idea of the track but after we stripped it down to the vocal we decided to rebuild everything from scratch. It eventually turned into a melancholic arp driven dance track and we think it's a great twist to an already smashing original version."
From their Mercury Prize shortlisted debut The Back Room, to platinum selling An End Has A Start, #1 debuting In This Light and On This Evening, sprawling, transitional The Weight of Your Love, moody, self-produced In Dream and their 6th top 10 album in a row, 2018’s explosive Violence, Editors have refused to either stay still or compromise. This is perhaps the key to their longevity. It also no doubt also owes something to a hugely dedicated fanbase, both home and abroad, which before the global pandemic regularly saw them performing sold out tours across the UK, Europe and further afield, as well as headlining festivals ahead of many more household names, such as 2018’s Werchter Classic Festival in Belgium, which they headlined and curated with Kraftwerk and The National supporting.
