"17" is the latest explosive offering from Canadian metal provocateur Daemon Grey, a hard-hitting 4-track EP that blends hardcore, southern, and melodic metal with blistering energy, razor-sharp conviction, and a defiant attitude that refuses to age. Featuring newly remastered versions of “Fuck The System”, “Paint My Flesh”, and “Seventeen”, plus a brand-new intro track “Defiant”, “17” is a bold statement of identity, rebellion, and immortal passion.
“17 represents youthful rebellion, power, and undying passion. Each song delivers its own edge while staying true to the record’s tone and spirit. I wrote this record to express the soul-level conviction that never fades with age - the belief that we are stronger, better, and more alive every day.”
– Daemon Grey
On this EP, we see Daemon refine his solo writing further, morphing his acapella-written ideas into powerful, hard-hitting, uplifting songs overflowing with energy and conviction.
ABOUT THE EP:
“17” is more than an EP, it’s a philosophy. "Seventeen", the title track, feels like a spiritual sequel to Daemon’s underground hit “I Don’t Wanna Grow Up” - this time deeper, more reflective, but equally fierce. Inspired by the moment Daemon first discovered his unwavering sense of self at age 17, the song rejects the notion of growing weaker with age and instead champions strength, confidence, and self-determined vitality.
“Paint My Flesh” takes a more poetic approach, celebrating tattoos as soul-marking passion statements. With cathartic lyrics, ripping riffs, and thrash energy, it's both a tribute and a call to arms for those who wear their passions on their skin.
And of course, “Fuck The System” is an incendiary highlight, built from the rubble of trust in mainstream systems and fuelled by pure rage and empowerment. With nods to Madball, Pantera, and Rage Against the Machine, it’s a hardcore-metal rebellion track that kicks down the door and leaves nothing behind.
New opener “Defiant” sets the tone - hard, fast, and full of fire. It’s a fitting intro to a record that bleeds resistance, resilience, and reckless passion. But for me it’s the only track I won’t take into my i-tunes account as it has no vocals and I’m a vocals guy.
Seventeen - A celebration of ageless confidence and vitality with a deep groove and powerful message. This song has already been launched with a clip and is a real blast! I can feel the lyrics are all real and are sung with heart and soul in it! On a more personal note: I wish I was 27 again (an not 52), as I was then on my sharpest!

Paint My Flesh - A thrash-inspired anthem to the art and soul of tattooing, pain and permanence intertwined. Frankly: i don’t have a tattoo (scars enough). I never will pay to get some inked and never understood why people want them. Anyway: it’s a great song, with a mister Manson minded break (halfway). I love the guitar play!
Fuck The System - The angriest, most attitude-drenched track Daemon has ever released - a rebellious war cry for a world betrayed by authority. This one might become a real punk minded anthem! It’s raw, has the right lyrics, right energy load, right sound … On top it has it al lto become a hit!
Well If I forget the intro then It’s a 100% must have! Feel the energy, the rage, the real emotions! It’s all real and yes: sadly we are all getting older, so wish I was still 27 (17 wasn’t my most happiest age)!
