Krieg-B - War Drums´ Resonance (Emmo.Biz records)

English:CD-review
  Van Muylem    2 december 2024

The French Dominique Lallement (Kriegbereit, Cobalt 60, K Bereit) and The Belgian Benoît Buyse aka Dreadfool (Anamorphosis,Nihiliste) compose this duo created in June 2023. Krieg BB’s music is a mixture of what has been done over the last 30 years in industrial electronic music, darkwave and ebm.

A rough and metallic sound, dancing rhythms, calm melodies that counterbalance the brutal side, supported by committed texts, make Krieg B a new actor of the Darkwave scene. The typical composition of the pieces of Dominique Lallement combined with the gutural contribution of Benoît Buyse, make the ir music a revelation of the darkness of humanity. Krieg B does not claim to revolutionize the microcosm of alternative music, but seeks to federate it and bring it into its universe in these chaotic times.

Let's dance mit Krieg B!

Special Operation starts like a mix between modern EBM and industrial. Fact is that I adore the sound and the beats. The vocals are fine too. For me this one could become a floor filler. It’s a great start. Wandering what the Russian words are at the end of the song (except: Look)?

Under Pressure starts with roaring machine’s and loud electronic drums and no it’s not a David Bowie & Queen cover! This song is well crafted and fits this album about war and putting us all under pressure to join it.

Napalm Girl is not sung in Englisch but in French and really sounds great. It’s a mix between Front 242 and French metal on heavy beats. And yes this song can also become a floor filler at parties.

King of Emptiness is a fueled and testosterone driven track with a high tempo, high res beats and a sharp synth. It’s clearly a hit!

Corpus Christi is a hard hitter, dancefloor minded (the perfect sound, beats, tempo, vocals, …) and has well fueled vocals. Another top song!

Carnage for the first time I hear vocals that I heard before on New Wave tracks from the past (try Jacquy Bitch for example). The music is great as always (Dominique clearly does a great job). I’m sure the gigs are a blast!

Truth Lies is maybe the slowest track on the album, but the electronics elevate the track to a higher level. This song somehow reminds me a bit of Trump (the same way as what Boudycount did on their last album).

Get Out starts with some Russian spokesman whilst Benoît is screaming get out! The beats are great, I just hope the vocal outtake makes sense (compared to the lyrics).

Artificial Mind is another dancefloor filler and a real killer track: listen to the beats, feel the tempo in your legs when you start to dance. The vocals sound a bit like an angry J-L (Front 242). The industrial noise sounds great too! Funker Vogt also pops up.

Parabellum is pretty slow, but the vocals sounds harsh and aggressive. Still a great track!

SCSN has great start: heavy beats and guitars followed by harsh vocals and female vocal outtakes. Another must have for DJ’s! Shoot, conquer, survive next!

Here ends the regular album, but there is an extra for the fans:

Special Edition Bonus CD:

Nag Nag Nag from Cabaret Voltaire gets a speeded up version, filled with testosterone and fueled by EBM/Industrial fire! A must have for fans of Cabaret Voltaire and in extensu of fans of this kind of music (period). It’s the perfect end for the perfect album (and honestly: it is the perfect album)!

So, my conclusion is very clear:

This album sounds like a best of (but isn’t technically): it has the right tempo, beats, music, vocals, … No fillers, only killer tracks! It’s clear that 1+1 = 3 in this case. Dominique really does a great job when talking about the music and the vocals from Benoît are top notch! I understand now why the album got a high spot at the German (DAC) charts! Krieg-B is here to conquer the world!
