It’s a vibrant retrofuturist trip with a late seventies touch New Wave, a post-romantic voyage in 10 chapters / songs, each of them exploring & questioning the simple basics of life that keep a man going & creating.
WORK questions the use or no-use of the all-time commonly accepted concept of what we call “Work”.
Starting with long-haired hippîes in the sixties, oil-crisised cynism in the seventies, Wall Street capitalism in the 80’s, naive 90’s optimism, nillies’ deception, throughout these last 2 confused decades, well; what’s the use finally?
Well, WORK is indeed a fourletter word, but it’s not spelled “FUCK”, “HATE” or “POPE”, and certainly not“MONY, JOBB, or BOSS”, no, it’s simply spelled “LOVE”...
DAAN says:
to celebrate my 55th birthday, let me proudly present a second track from the upcoming album SPACE (release end november 2024).
It’s a song about the use (or no use) of this strange concept we call “WORK", seen through the 7 decades I’ve had the pleasure to discover so far. I’m also extremely excited by the video, created in collaboration with AI astronaut Maarten Francq. For the first time I found a way to visualise my lyrics & music without having to bother with every day reality :-). It’s our own litlle tribute to our typically beloved belgian absurdism / surrealism. Oh, and if you have the time, replay it frame by frame, that even makes the random nonsense weirder.
Enjoy! (we did) XD
