Painted Scars is a brand new heavy hitting hard rock band that was fully formed in April 2023. They recorded their first single “Life and Alive” in July 2023. The single was recorded at home by the band members and sent to an audio engineer in Germany for mixing and mastering. It received very positive reviews by local magazines and social media outlets.
As a try-out show, they organized a mini festival “Scarfest” in their home base in Erpe-Mere, Belgium. The festival took place in August 2023. The show, being a great success, triggered a series of follow up shows in the same year.
The band is known for their high energy show that leaves first timers with a deep impression. Heavy riffs and blazing guitar solos, combined with melodic choruses provide the crowd with a mix of head banging and sing along moments.
Glow in the Dark sounds like the perfect track to start this EP and to start a gig with: strong, explosive and with the perfect vocals performed by Jassy ‘Hyacien’ Blue. The global sound gets close to the best Thundermother tracks from before they got reformed! The guitar play is hot, you can almost smell the burning snares.
Won’t Give Up! Is a bit softer, but still has the holy fire within it’s shape. It is a very good peptalk minded song! One might even use it during a work-out.
Knock Knock is a straight forward hard rock track who comes knocking on your door and asks for your approval.
Liquid Gold has a nice title and reminds me again of the best version of Thundermother: a fuelled female fronted hard rocker! Don’t get burned!
Freedom is another well fuelled hard rocker with a high tempo (watch out for speeding tickets if you are driving and listening to this song). The guitar play is succulent!
Life and Alive (bonus track) starts with rambling guitars and rocks your socks off! I’m pretty sure this is the perfect track to close a live set and also fits perfectly the end of this nice EP!
It’s a good start if I can write down they match with the best period (according to me) of Thundermother! It’s not yet liquid Gold but it’s on its way to become it! So head on, rock on and get a lot of gigs and we’ll see what the next record will bring!
