Loverman (BE) brings a stripped but strong new single called Parlay and needs to be mentionned! PVA has also a cool dancefloor minded song called Untethered! But single of the week goes to the fragile cover done by Naima Joris (BE): Walking The Cow. The cover EP has already been reviewed and loved! So enjoy!

LOVERMAN - PARLAY

Brussels based singer-songwriter Loverman debuted in March with the haunting and utterly beautiful single Into The Night. In the video he wandered the streets of Paris dressed as a Nosferatu-like cupid of dusk. The ghastly imagery set to the lush and melancholic music created a weird but wonderful effect.

For follow up single Parlay James sheds his vampire skin and strips Loverman to its bare bones. No strings, no drums, just his voice and a sole acoustic guitar. The result takes your breath away. Parlay is 5 minutes of pure wonder and contemplation.

NAIMA JORIS - WALKING THE COW

Walking The Cow is the final track to be released form Naima Joris’ brand new collection of Daniel Johnston covers. It’s probably the most light-hearted track the Belgian singer released so far.

Her trademark bluesy voice getting support from melancholic pedal steel guitar and warm wind instruments. Once again welcoming a classic piece of music by Daniel Johnston into her own unique and mesmerizing sound.

ELIZA - HEAT OF THE MOON

The artist formerly known as Eliza Doolittle returns on her new home, Different Recordings with a fresh sound and a new look. After dropping Straight Talker late March, she now unveils a brand new track. On Heat of the Moon, ELIZA warms us with her lush vocals, encouraging us to lose ourselves under the moonlight. A fantastic video, filmed in one shot, will be released simultaneously.

QUINN CHRISTOPHERSON - EVELENE

Quinn Christopherson is today announcing his long awaited debut album, Write Your Name In Pink to be released on Play It Again Sam September 16th. It’s a groundbreaking record and a masterclass in songwriting and storytelling alike. Quinn writes with the precision of Joni Mitchell or the Mountain Goats, his exacting details giving the songs a depth and believability that’s relatable, though your own circumstances will no doubt be different.

Quinn tells us “'Write Your Name in Pink' comes from reflection, sifting through experiences— good and bad. I have found empathy for myself and those in my life. This record is a celebration of youth, an exercise in forgiveness, and an expression of gratitude to have made it this far.  As a trans person, a queer person, an Alaska Native person, ideas are placed upon me. A lot of us don’t get to define our own narrative, even to ourselves. This is me starting to own mine. 'Write Your Name in Pink' is me.

Along with the news of the album he is also dropping a new song Evelene. The song glides effortlessly with Quinn’s vocal prowess on full display. Lyrically he explains “the song is about sisterhood. Growing up as a woman is dangerous and we make it through by having each other's backs.

PVA - UNTETHERED

GRAMMY-nominated, South London trio PVA return today with a new single that sees the band expanding on their unrelenting and energetic sound, combining the release of the dancefloor with jagged punk spirit. Built on a bed of dynamic industrial beats, blistering synths and sprechgesang inflected post-punk, Untethered is a freeing and powerful statement of intent from the band as they continue their musical evolution. The band says, "'Untethered' is a song about release. It’s our current set opener and an introduction to our industrial arm. We wrote it in one session in a burst of chaotic catharsis. The lyrics follow a character being freed from imaginary tethers and experiencing the earth under their feet again."

11/11 @ Sonic City Festival, Kortrijk

GABE GURSNEY - PUSH

Close your eyes and listen to Gabe Gurnsey’s latest offering. You might be transported to a German autobahn after nightfall, strobe lights flashing in your private imaginarium. Or perhaps to a dimly lit basement, getting your top off as sound cascades off of concrete walls. Gurnsey’s music is like an aural cinema, conjuring multiple screenplays, usually involving the darkness.  We’re in a place of giddy echoes, 808 boings, sexy-menacing vocals and soft throbs, with lyrics full of pleasure and desire; like proper rave lyrics, they are in turn filthy, grandiose, devotional, and cryptic.  The singer is Gurnsey’s girlfriend, Tilly Morris, whose role is that of both muse and collaborator. “I wanted Tilly to dominate on my new album,” Gurnsey explains. “I wanted her to have free rein. This album works because of her influence, her input.”
