Browsing Collection lifts their struggle against sexism and bigotry as female rock musicians with their new single “Break Closed Minded Bars”.

The first version of “Break Closed Minded Bars” was written about 5 years ago. The song will finally be released November 1st as a new fresh single, where the band takes influences from different music genres and creates their new sound for the upcoming album, that will be released in the beginning of 2020. This is the song of the upcoming record that brings the listener back to the band’s roots with some fresh BC-sprinkles on top.

In this song Browsing Collection brings up how they often get treated in the music industry, at venues where they play and also in social media channels. The band is fed up with having to constantly prove themselves to get any respect on tour.

“Often times on the road, we get the sound guy or the booker asking us if we’re working with catering or if we’re dating any of the musicians.”

What the staff on these venues often don’t know is that Browsing Collection (Mimi 22 years old, Nora 21 years old, Carolina 26 years old and Moa 26 years old) started playing music at an early age and that the band has played together for more than 11 years.

Browsing Collection has managed to get a wide audience after playing at clubs and festivals all over Sweden, Europe and all the way over in South Korea where they’ve toured twice. Except an endless amm0unt of shows and releases the band has also recorded and written music for Swedish public television, SVT and for one of the world’s greatest online games, Star Stable. In the beginning of this year the band won the Swedish Music Award of the Future for their work with Sweden Rock Camp, where they work coaching women transgender and non-binary people in rock music. Not long after that they won the Swedish Public radio award P4 Nästa in their region and got to play in the national final last summer.

After their experience and years of hard work, they often feel that the treatment they get from people in the industry can be tiring and degrading.

“We feel like people often treat us like children that doesn't know anything about music. Then right after the show, the same people that looked down on us just moments before are blown away because we made such a great live performance.”

Although parts of this song was written 5 years ago situations like these occur time and again to this day. The band wants the world to know about what reality can look like for female musicians. Their experience is that as women in music they have to fight harder to get to the next level, get people to listen and on top of it all they have to cope with always being treated like they don’t belong in this part of the music scene.

Browsing Collection says that they only want to focus on following their passion and do what they do best - Play rock music together, without having to go through this struggle every time.
