Daan’s new single FUN is the most intimate track on the new SPACE album, a classic voice & guitar ballad written late night last winter. The ironically misleading title asks how we can keep our mental flame burning after decades of intense living, standing at life's crossroads and having to choose between pleasure or pain, wisdom or weariness, kicks or kindness, spleen or spring, darkness or darlings?
Adding to the song’s melancholy are the Budapest Art Orchestra strings, Rob Stein’s pedal steel guitar, recorded in Woodstock’s Dreamland Studio, the 4 electric basses playing a classical Bach quartet and the extreme stereo female / male choirs in the finale, in vintage California Dreaming style.
