Well, this is the 7th album from Berlin-based duo: an album full of energy, strong old-school EBM basslines, catchy synth melodies, and addictive choruses, all highlighted by their unique male/female vocal interplay. NITZER EBB’s power meets KRAFTWERK’s melody for a smashing album evoking AND ONE or FRONT 242.

AD:KEY’s 7th album “0609,” is their most personal release yet, reflecting their deep bond as a married couple and as bandmates. Andrea and Rene Nowotny take us on an intimate sonic journey, where their hearts and souls sync to create an album full of energy, strong old-school EBM basslines, catchy synth melodies, and addictive choruses, all highlighted by their unique male/female vocal interplay.

They start with the song called: Two Souls. As they are a duo, it feels a bit like self-reflective lyrics. The song itself is a bit of a mix between Kraftwerk and Front 242 (and yes: the fact we have 2 vocalists here also helps a bit to think about that last one). I feel the energy and am sure it will be a blast once you’ll hear it during a gig! Be ready to scream along the chorus!

Heartbeat has a higher tempo, but the chorus might give the same reaction as the previous track. It’s a more EBM orientated track!

I Take You is a typical old school EBM track, with some Front 242/ And One influences.

Der Böse Gott is (just like the title) sang in German, has a lower tempo and sounds a bit colder. Somehow it reminds me a bit of Das Ich / Goethes Erben.

Bad Times Pass By mixes English with German, has a higher tempo and sounds like modern EBM.

Nackt has been released with a clip. The song has indeed potential and sounds great: a good tempo, perfect beats, good sync between both singers (with the music and with each other).

Alles Bewegt Sich gets leads done by Andrea, is sung in German, has a lower tempo and is not my favorite track on the album as the tempo is a bit too slow and I miss that extra punch in the song.

By Your Side is a catchy EBM top track with an eclectic feel.

Fühl Den Beat (feat. Kanka) is a nice ode to EBM and thus sounds like a typical EBM track, however the song has also modern touches in the sound.

0609 sounds like an ode to Kraftwerk, the pioneers of electronic music. I’m just wandering what this number means.

Well: it was to review them, however it was sometimes hard to keep it as a track per track review. I managed in the end, but it wasn’t easy. I’m sure fans of this genre will adore it (just as the remixes)!
