Foo Fighters brengt deze herfst hun 8ste studioalbum uit en de release van dit nieuwe werk zal samenvallen met de lancering van Dave Grohls nieuwe HBO-serie.
In de serie zal te zien zijn hoe de Foo Fighters-frontman een aantal van de meest iconische studio’s bezoekt, waaronder de Rancho De La Luna in Joshua Tree (oa Queens Of The Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys en Mark Lanegan), Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio (oa Cloud Nothings, Godspeed! You Black Emperor en Built To Spill) en andere studio’s in Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington, DC en New York. Grohl en band namen in elke stad 1 nummer op.De show zal show voortborduren op Grohls documentaire “Sound City” waar hij een ode bracht aan de SC studio waar een groot aantal onvergetelijke klassiekers werden opgenomen, zoals Nirvana’s Nevermind, Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours en Rage Against The Machine’s gelijknamige album.
In tussentijd is de groep aan de slag gegaan aan het nieuwe werk. Producer Butch Vig liet vorige maand weten dat de plaat al bijna voor de helft af is: "We've been recording at some different locations, but we're almost halfway done with the recording and it's going well," Vig said.It sounds different — we've thrown a few things into the mix, in the recording process, that are going to give the record a different sound and a different feel. It's been a challenge, but it's also been exciting."
