Antwerp-based postpunk trio Disorientations is back with brand new single Drift. After releasing their debut album Memory Lanes (2022), lifelong friends Lukas Van Camp (bass), Tomas Serrien (drums) and Niels Elsermans (vocals, guitar) dove into long jam sessions to achieve a capricious writing phase by bundling their best assets.

Drift is the first song that embodied the new musical direction of the band. It embraces their harsh emotional sound, the raw rhythmic power and the captivating vocals with more adventurous songwriting. Niels kicks of Drift with just his voice before a cool and subdued bass sets the groove. It’s thrilling start and prove of this band’s heightened confidence. When the buzzing guitars finally arrive after 1 minute the song switches gear and takes off like rocket.

“The song depicts the need to obtain care when heavily distressed”, Elsermans explains, “It is about finding balance in reaching out for help if everyone around you is fragile and lost.

Disorientations is a postpunkband from Antwerp, Belgium. Formed as a 3-piece in 2018, after years of performing in other bands like Melting Time and Lagüna, they quickly grew out into a full-fledged and close-knit group. Lifelong friends Lukas Van Camp (bass), Tomas Serrien (drums) and Niels Elsermans (vocals, guitar) felt a need to start jamming endlessly as a way to process shared loss experiences. Their collaborative writing process soon led to songs inspired by the melancholic dark 80s. While combining new wave with more alternative punk and noise music, their music became characterized by an intense and contemporary cold-blooded sound that comes to life during their intense and noisey performances.
