“Welcome To The Sixth Stage Of Grief” is arguably MORDKAUL’s most brutal song so far, especially when it comes to the lyrics: “These lyrics describe the darkest of human emotions: the desire for revenge. How betrayal and grief lead to inhuman acts of  cruelty and violence. In the end, every human being can be provoked to cross the line where all humanity is lost to this vile and primitive lust for retaliation.”

Musically you can expect a high level of aggression, speed, melody and heaviness. Where the debut album ‘Dress Code: Blood’ was heavily inspired by the iconic Swedish death metal bands from the 90's, ‘Feeding The Machine’ goes a step further than that. With wider influences of iconic 90's death metal acts like Morbid Angel and Death, ‘Feeding The Machine’ hits harder. “Welcome To The Sixth Stage Of Grief” is the pinnacle of that.

The video is produced by Jelle Boucher (Aborted, Stake, Diablo Blvd) and is the band’s first release featuring James McIlroy (ex-Cradle Of Filth) who recently joined the band.

Line up (L2R):

James McIlroy – Lead Guitar

Tony Van den Eynde – Drums

Tommy Goffin – Vocals

Nicholas Gauwloos - Bass

Stefan Segers – Rhythm Guitar / Backing Vocals

About the band:

A dark and evil mood, an infernal drive, and incendiary vocals on top is how MORDKAUL likes to forge their killer songs.

The members of this Belgium based band share a mutual passion for melodic death metal, and with the splitting up of their former bands Diablo Blvd and Hell City, they finalized the tracks Tim Bekaert started writing a few years back.

In May 2020, MORDKAUL’s debut album ‘Dress Code: Blood’ was recorded by Tommy Goffin (Hell City) vocals, Tim Bekaert (Diablo Blvd, A Brand), Vincent Noben (Hell City) guitars and Adrian Erlandsson (At The Gates, ex-Cradle Of Filth, The Haunted,...) drums. Mixing and mastering of the album was done by Dan Swano (Opeth, Bloodbath…). Soon after the recording, Jan Rammeloo (Bliksem, Furia, Your Highness) and Tony Van den Eynde (Leng Tch’e, Saille) joined forces. ‘Dress Code: Blood’ was released in January 2021 on Wormholedeath Records.

After the release several successful and sold out shows where played to promote the debut album, ending in the summer of ‘22 with a killer and critically acclaimed performance at Alcatraz Festival (BE). After this, Mordkaul went back to the studio to record their follow up album: ‘Feeding The Machine’.

Where ‘Dress Code: Blood’ was heavily inspired by the iconic Swedish death metal bands from the 90's, Feeding The Machine goes a step further than that. With wider influences of iconic 90's death metal acts like Morbid Angel, Death, Amon Amarth and Hypocrisy, ‘Feeding The Machine’ hits even harder.

To get the most out of the individual songs and promoting them to their best extent, ‘Feeding The Machine’ is released in two parts. It was recorded at the end of Summer ‘22 at Project Zero studio by Yarne Heylen (Carnation). Mixing and mastering was again done by Dan Swanö. Part 1 will have a main focus on digital releases, including several video clips and singles. Part 2 will be recorded in August 2023 to be released after summer. Once both releases are out the full album will be released in physical format. The first video and single for ‘For I Am Machine’ was released on January 5th – 2023. In April 2023, James McIlroy (ex-Cradle Of Filth) joined Mordkaul.
