Hano-ah - Slow Waltz

English:CD-review
  Van Muylem    20 november 2016

As she will play at the Trolls et Légendes edition 2017 it was the right moment to discover this nice artist from Mons with the fragile sound. She has been influenced by Dead Can Dance, Tori Amos, Cocorosie, Emilie Simon, Kate Bush, Fever Ray, Bjork, Bang Gang ...

Just some beat box and fragile vocals, it sounds pure and emotional. Walking Away will take you into her life. Monster goes a bit faster and has more up fronted vocals. The nightingale in her comes out, as if it’s springtime. The sound is pretty hypnotic and floating. Slow Waltz goes more into piano, the vocals sound a bit different, clearer. It sounds like a sad waltz, a bit melancholic. Towards the end it goes more into Tori Amos, even with a very dramatic feel. Interlude is not an interlude, but rather a short song with repetitive words, some angelic singing and a piano. The River is a slow grower, with an hypnotic feel. The vocals almost drag you into the river.

It’s incredible how fast you are into this fragile and minimalistic world. Can’t wait to bewitched by her during the Trolls et Légendes edition 2017!
